Conversation 1
Susan: It’s great to see you, David. Have you been in San
Carlos long?
David: Just a few days. I’m really excited to be here.
Susan: I can’t wait to show you around. Have you been to
La Fortuna yet? David: Yeah. I’ve already been to
La Fortuna once. I went hiking, and I also
took a zip lining
and whit- water rafting tour. It was my first time doing extreme sports. I
liked it a lot.
Susan: Oh well, have you tried the cave spelunking
in El Venado Caves? I have heard it is really exciting.
David: No, I haven’t. What is it about?
Susan: It is the most extreme version of hiking. You hike
through dark caves with a flashlight, and the trail won’t be easy. You’ll
need to climb over rocks, forge through streams and ponds, and explore
dead-end caverns before making it out.
David: Wow! That’s definitely something I want to do. When
should we go?
Susan: What about Sunday? We
need to take a bus to Monterrey and then a taxi to El Venado
David: It sounds perfect to me.
Susan: Great! Let’s meet at the bus station at 7:00 am.
David: Sure! I´ll see you then. Thanks for the invite.
Susan: My pleasure!

Conversation 2
Gabby: Hey, Michael. I’ve seen you’re really into sports.
What kinds of
sports do you practice?
Michael: I've always liked extreme sports: waterfall
rappelling, paragliding, bungee jumping, zip lining, and many others.
Gabby: I didn't know you were so adventurous.
Michael: Well, I like to feel the adrenaline. I usually
practice extreme sports at least twice a month.
Gabby: Wow! What sport have you enjoyed the most?
Michael: Oh, definitely sky diving. It’s kind of expensive to
do it, but it’s worth the money. You’ll jump
through the sky with a parachute and a trained, certified guide. During your
several minutes in the air, you’ll get the best views imaginable of this
tropical country!
Gabby: It sounds great!
Michael: What about if you try it?
Gabby: I don’t know. I’m afraid
of heights. Michael: Come on.
Let’s do it. I’ll jump too. Gabby: Okay.
I´ll do it.
Michael: Great! I´ll call a couple of friends and everything will be ready
for next Saturday.
Gabby: Well, it sounds like a plan!

night Mr. and Mrs. Rojas stayed home. It was cold and rainy, and they didn’t
want to go out in the bad weather. Mrs. Rojas made some popcorn and ice tea. At

But I really don’t ….”
“Oh, come on!” Mrs. Rojas insisted. She put on
a romantic CD and they both started to dance. They were dancing for about 1
minute when suddenly the music stopped, and the lights went out. Mrs. Rojas

Bloggers and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Travel Day
A Kitty Scorned
Laurel Robbins from
Monkeys and Mountains
My flight into Barcelona was supposed to arrive
at 12:30 am, but instead it arrived at 2:30 am. I was tired and cranky and
eager to get to my hotel. As I picked up my bag from the baggage carousel, I
noticed that it was wet. Damn airline, can’t
even keep my bag dry, I murmured to myself as I hopped into a taxi to my
hotel.
As I started unpacking, I noticed a smell, then
realized it wasn’t just my suitcase that was wet, but that it was all my
clothes too. It slowly dawned on me that this wasn’t the fault of a careless
airline. But the work of a spurned cat that was giving me a clear sign that he
was not happy that I was leaving him! Yep, my cat peed inside my suitcase, all
over all my clothes!
At 3:00 am I proceeded to hand wash my clothes
in a tiny hotel sink using a combination of hotel soap and shampoo. For the
record, it’s not very effective! The next morning, I met my tour group in
slightly damp clothes with a still faint smell of cat urine which I vainly
attempted to cover by over perfuming myself!
Blessings!!!
take care you and take care yours!
